MEET PIPER JAY

 Piper Jay - Bio Picture  


Hi! I'm Piper.

For those of you that don't know me yet, I'm a full-time modern yogini living and teaching in the Greater Houston Area.  Born and raised in the Lone Star State, I am Texan to my core and proud of it.  And - true to my roots - I tend to exude the warm and open energy that is so characteristic of people from my state.  I love moving and playing, and all of this shows up in my classes.

I stumbled upon Yoga in 2006 as a way to care for my body and prevent sports injuries (I have been a competative athlete for as long as I can remember).  I credit my yoga practice for the shape that I'm in right now despite my intense level of activity over the years.  I have studied more than seven different forms of yoga including Pralaya, Forrest, Baptiste, Vinyasa, Hatha, Bikram, and - my current favorite - Asthanga.  I have had the distinct privilege of being mentored by yoga masters like Ana Forrest, Catherine Allen, Heidi Sormez, Ann Hyde, and Roger & Albina Rippy - the founders of the Houston-based Yoga Studio phenomenon, Yoga One. I currently work full time at Joy Yoga as they Yoga Director, teaching a full docket of weekly classes and heading up their 200hr Teacher Training.

 

To me yoga is truly a lifestyle, and the foundation of my life's work and purpose.  I am incredibly passionate about sharing my knowledge with my students as I feel that's the gift I can give the world right now - more awake & breathing yogis!  I invite you to join me on your mat, and look forward to seeing each and everyone of you soon!
